What I want The Reader To Feel After Reading My Memoir

After reading my memoir, I want people to be able to feel like they were there watching everything I am writing about. I want them to see were I'm coming from fully and clear. I don't want them to think I am prejudice because I am not, but going some were for a year and being the only African American girl can seem tough, and I thought it would be. Them reading my memoir should teach them the lesson of giving things a chance, stepping outside of your comfort zone every now and then, and not to judge a book by it's cover.

Why Is Your Memoir Topic IMportant to You?

My topic is important to me because I went through a totally new experience. I would have never thought I'd go to a school were I was the only African American girl. I felt like I was a fish out of water to them which made me defensive and I started judging them thinking they wouldn't accept me or like me. But I learned that they were not how I thought they were and that most of them liked me. This taught me not to judge people right off the back. That is why this topic is important to me.

Flashback (My Memoir)

"Noooo!", I cried to my mother as she tried to leave me. It was my first day of kindergarten and I was not about to let her go. "MOOOM!!!" I yelled. "Its o.k. honey", she comforted me. The same way she had comforted me all my life, and I knew she wasn't going to be able to all day. "Let go of me now. I have to go to work" I screamed and yelled as I saw the back of her head float off

Describe My Room

My room is kind of simple. The walls are white, the carpet is tan. But, I do have a purple frilly carpet covering up part of my floor. My curtains are pink and orange, matching my bead spread which is pink, purple, and orange. I love reading Seventeen, Vogue, W, and Cosmogirl magazines so what I do is rip pictures out from the magazines whether its a fashion ad or writing, and hang them up on my wall and closet door. I also have a mirror on my wall so I can look at myself all the time and two pictures of pink flowers. By my bed, I have a black dresser that matches my black table and the head board. On my table I have a pile of magazines and some books...

Describe Me In Five Different Words

1. girlie girl
2. proper
3. sweet
4. creative
5. giving

Scariest Moment

I cant really think of one of my scariest moments but I can think of something that freaked me out. One night I was over my grandmas house alone. I decided to go in the kitchen to grab a snack because I was hungry. As I was closing the refrigerator, the lights turned off by itself. I remember running into the bedroom so fast.
I'm the type of person that gets freaked out very easily. I don't particularly believe in ghosts but when that happened that was probably the first thing that popped up in my head. On top of that happening, I was home alone with no one to go and run to. I just hope that never happens to me ever again!

Lets Do It Again :)

There are many things in my life that I would like to do over again. Some significant, some not so significant. What I would like to do all over again may seem insignificant and small to some, but to me it really meant a lot to me. Not at the time, but looking back on it brings a smile to my face. The thing I would love to do all over again is go to Disneyland with my mom and dad.
When I was 12 my mom, my dad, and I went to Disneyland for Christmas. I was excited because my brother and sister went to Texas to visit our papa. It was just me and my parents, exactly how I wanted it to be. Since my mom and dad split, that was probably the last time that we all did something fun and exciting together as a family. I had so much fun. It made me feel special because I had all my parents attention and it was about what i wanted to do, and not my sister or annoying brother. Its funny because at this moment i just learned a lesson. To cherish the good times because you don't know when or if they can ever be replayed.

Impactful person

There are not very people in my life who i can say has influenced me, some but not a lot. But one person who has influence me quite a bit is bit is my older sister. I think of her as a positive role model towards my life. She has a goal and i can see her working her best to achieve it. I really look up to her in many ways.
The reason why i look up to her is because she has goals and she completes each step to get to her goal without giving up. I as well have goals in my life but to see someone who has similar goals as mine doing there best to reach them makes me want to reach my goals even more. She also attends a junior college. Previously before going to the junior college, she went to California College of the Arts, which isn't a junior college. She saw that it was a bit to much for her at the moment and decided to drop out to go to the junior college. Seeing this made me realize that its okay to stoop down to something lower sometimes if thats what is best for you so that you can get to the top later on.
